Just thought I would promote some books I am reading. First is Shaunti Feldman's For Women Only. This is a lot of review but still encouraging and good reminder of the differences of men and women and how we can be rather short sighted at times. For Men Only is one of Vince's favorites because it has a chart.:)
The other book I read, is The Weight of Glory by C.S.Lewis. I wanted to read this after hearing a quote during the The Truth Project. (focus on the family serieswww.thetruthproject.org).
I think I will put up some of the things I pick up on in each of the 9 lectures. The Forward and Preface are great as well.
1. The Weight of Glory
C.S. Lewis writes with such clarity, and speaks to so many; it is filled with a lot of "A has and Hmms"
After addressing our desire for God as weak."We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us...We are far too easily pleased."p.26
My favorite part is the last page:
"There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal....But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit-immortal horrors or everlasting splendours."
"Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses. If he is your Christian neighbour,he is holy in almost the same way, for in him also Christ vere latitat- the glorifier and the glorified, Glory Himself, is truly hidden." p.46
There is treasure on every page and some of my pages are almost entirely highlighted.
Next books will be one on battles in Baghdad and Chuck Colson's book on Faith.

CS Lewis is my favorite! I think "Mere Christianity" is my favorite "non-Narina" book of his.
